Seeing St.Lucians version of a replica of the moutain: PRICELESS!!!!
IS THIS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE THE THINGS AT NATIONAL PARKS??????
My favorite part of St.Lucia was hands down, climbing Gross Piton, It is one of the wonders of the world, even Oprah says that in your lifetime you have to visit the Pitons. I figured with all the siting around on the beach we could use the excercise.
We found a taxi driver that actually decided to climb the Piton with us, so we left at 5 in the morning because its a 2 hour drive into the heart of the jungle.
We had to have a local "Guide" well, which turns out is just a local person living in the village trying to earn enough money to put food onto the table. She was very quite and just flew up the mountain like she was strolling down the street. In peak season she climbs it twice a day.
70 minutes later..................................................
View from the north side of the Piton, looking at the Petit Piton, If you look closely you can see the tip
1 hour 45 min later of climbing up the side of a mountain, we finnaly reached the summit, It was totally worth all the hard work, The guide says that we actually climbed it pretty quickly....I was pretty proud of myself
View from the top
Looking back up to the peak we climbed up to
Can you believe that this is a Aloe Vera plant????? I don't know what speices we have here but were all getting ripped off, that thing is twice my height!!!
These pictures do not do this place any justice at all.
After we finished the hike, our driver actually took us to a locals home, where the owner prepared a true Carribean meal for us!!! Talk about the royal treatment.
We followed the lunch with a Snorkel trip at the famous "Anse Chastenet" Known for some of the best diving in the world... I would have taken pictures but my camera kept attracting huge fish, I opted out of that
